Hickok 800K (600A) Dynamic Mutual Conductance Tube Tester. S/N 20610068 DESCRIPTION______ The Hickok 800K, manufactured in the late fifties and early sixties, is essentially identical to the more common 600A model. This unit includes a nuvistor adaptor and an adaptor for testing tubes with a grid/plate cap. The roll chart has been removed from the case, cut into separate pages and placed in a three ring binder. There are actually three charts included. One from 1964, another from 1970 and a 1968 supplement for obsolete tube types. The roll chart mechanism is in good condition and could be used if you can find a chart. Also included is a photocopy of the original manual and schematic. APPEARANCE: The wood case and plastic handle are in very good solid condition. The cloth cover has numerous scuff marks from 40+ years of service but is in overall good condition. The hinges and latches are tarnished, but working well. The front panel and meter face are clean and in very good condition except for a bit of Dymo label adhesive on the lower right edge of the panel. The screws holding the panel to the case have been replaced with new brass hardware. ELECTRICAL: The unit is all original with 3 exceptions. The HV rectifier had gone bad and was recently replaced with a NOS #83. The line cord has been replaced with a 3 prong grounded cord for safety reasons. The lead on the grid/plate cap adaptor was brittle and has been replaced. I have cleaned all the pots and switches and checked for loose connections. The equipment has been adjusted and calibrated to meet factory voltage specifications. A copy of the calibration sheet is included. I have not atempted to calibrate the micromho or English dials since I do not have a calibrated 6L6 to perform this test. I have tested a number of known good tubes and the readings are within the range to be expected. The meter movement is smooth and glitch free. |
