Shield-Kon (TM) CRIMPING TOOLs NOs. WT-440-03 or WT-403 By the Thomas and Betts (T & B) Co. Elizabeth, N.J. U.S.A. PARALLEL ACTION HEX CRIMPER HAND TOOLS For crimping shield terminating ferrules and coax connectors such as Shield-Kon Two-piece connectors. The outer sleeve is crimped with a hand tool and the result is a hexagonal-shaped crimp. See page 373 of this link for further description or page 376 for GSB/GSC series sleeve listing vs tool number. Used former Rockwell International tooling from the 80's and 90’s. Inactivated when the aerospace business slowed and now finally they have been surplused and are available to you at a tiny fraction of their original price! * WT-440-03 (initially 3 available) or WT-403 (initially 3 available) for use on GSC 175 blue 0.175 ID; 0.215 OD; RG122/U cable (see Note 2) * I'll pick best ones I got first unless both types are available and you specify which type you want. The crimp size produced by each type is identical. * The WT-440 handles have dies which can be interchanged with other size dies while the WT-403 handle dies are not interchangable. * As of Oct. 2 '06 I have 6 WT-406's, 1 WT-408, and 4 WT-409's which I will be listing separately soon if not already. 1. GSC ferrule outer sleeve numbers correspond to MS21980 dash numbers. "MS21980E remains inactive for new design, however, the document is valid for use." (From this link) 2. Cables listed from MIL-F-21608E table V. MIL-F-21608 is spec for Ferrule, Shield Terminating, Crimp Style (Superceded BY SAE-AS21608 so you have to pay money to read it), however the MIL spec is still available here for free: MIL-F-21608E Compare New WT-440 handles at $1048 with 47 day lead time (Newark 46F3835). Die new $340 with 33 day lead time Newark 94F7398 . Good. Printing easily readable. Actions are smooth and dies line up well. Except as noted all engraved with dept and s/n's, all lubricated rachet mechanisms. MOst grips are slightly loose. * S/N 2012 WT-440-03 good shape, smooth action, * S/N 602 WT-403 has Green Jan 23 89 cal sticker and a band of yellow tape on grip, smooth action till end where needs slight pull to get full open. * S/N 2249 WT-440-03 has light surface rust and AUG 04 '91 inspection sticker, good smooth action * One WT-403 has no s/n and a sticker that says "COAX ONLY", * S/N 2022 WT-440-03 has a May 11 '92 inspection sticker, good smooth action * One WT-403 has a Aug 22 '94 Cal sticker and property tag 051583 sticker. This one's action is slightly sticky when full open. * Parallel Straight line action hand tool * WT-440 frames have option for interchangeable steel dies and stowable wire guide. * WT-403 frames are marked with text describing applicable GSC ferrules and have non-interchangeable steel dies. * Shure-Stake (TM) Rachet mechanism: once pressing has commenced, the tool can be re-opened only after successful completion of the crimping cycle. * Closed gap at die edges is zero (they touch), open gap at edges is about 1/4 for the WT440 and 5/16 inches for the rest. * Dies are approx 3/8 thick. * Cushion-grip handles combine to provide greater operator comfort and efficiency. * Approx 8 1/4 long, 2 1/2 inches wide, 7/8 inch thick. * Weight approx 1 lbs 4 oz each.
